In conjunction with International Teachers’ Day on Saturday, TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile videos has launched an education initiative in honour of educators in Malaysia and around the world. Called #TikTokClassroom, the initiative provides an inclusive and engaging platform to learn new things outside the classroom setting.
Every two weeks, TikTok educators from Malaysia join other educators from all around the world to lend their expertise on subject matters they’re proficient in including language, life hacks, and photography.
Each TikTok classroom would consist of three TikTok educators who can share up to three tutorial or how-to videos each on a given subject. Viewers would then be able to access these videos by searching #TikTokClassroom on TikTok. Many Malaysians from various professions including educators have already lent their expertise including:-
“Educators around the world impart knowledge to students of all backgrounds, religion or race. It is an admirable trait to selflessly provide knowledge without discrimination in a safe environment for the benefit of shaping the young minds of tomorrow. We feel it is only appropriate to honour this noble profession by naming our initiative after the very place they share their knowledge, the classroom,” said Cheah Sheau Mei, User and Content Operations Manager, Malaysia. She continued, “The #TikTokclassroom initiative seeks to replicate a safe, positive and inclusive environment where students have the ability to learn in a fun and engaging manner outside the classroom, with a community of like minded creators, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender or socio-economic levels.”
