January Recommended Korean Shows Viu

Everyone has their own unique way of ushering in the New Year. Enjoying the best entertainment with family and friends in the comfort of your own home would definitely appeal to some of us. Malaysians can look forward to spending their time on Viu with some exciting Korean entertainment from New Year till the end of January.

  • Goblin

Goblin is a quirky romantic drama about Dokkaebi, played by superstar Gong Yoo (currently one of the most recognizable faces due to his lead role in Train To Busan). He plays a goblin who is a protector of souls and lives together with an amnesiac grim reaper who is in charge of taking deceased souls. Together, the two of them see the dead off into the afterlife. The drama will also feature several seasoned Korean artists such as Lee Dong-wook, Kim Go-eun, Yoo In- na and Yook Sung-jae.

  • Hwarang

Hwarang is dubbed the most awaited KBS television series this year. The story centres on a group of young people who grew up and trained to become elite knights during the era of Silla. The stellar cast consist of Park Seo Joon, Go Ara, Park Hyung Sik, SHINee’s Choi Minho and BTS’s Kim Taehyung.

Flower Crew is a variety show filled with the travel experiences of the cast members whose luck and fate depends on the live votes of the audience, creating a more unique, suspenseful and unpredictable outcome to the storyline. The show currently stars Seo Jang-hoon, Jo Se-ho, Ahn Jung-hwan, Yoo Byung-jae, Winner's Kang Seung-yoon and Lee Sung-jae.

  • Men In Black Box

Men In Black Box is an SBS programme hosted by Kim Gu-ra and Choi Ki-hwan, which looks into the hidden truth behind traffic incidents held in black boxes. It’s an educational programme with entertaining and heartwarming elements.

  • Jealousy Incarnate

Jealousy Incarnate is a television series starring Gong Hyo-jin, Jo Jung- suk, Go Kyung-po, Lee Mi-sook, Park Ji-young, Lee Sung-jae and Seo Ji- hye. This romantic drama is about weathercaster Pyo Na-ri (played by Gong Hyo-jin) who has a crush on news anchor Lee Hwa-shin (played by Jo Jung-suk), which turns into an intense competitive rivalry after she meets Go Jung-won (played by Go Kyung-pyo), a chaebol heir and close friend of Hwa-shin.

  • Uncontrollably Fond

The highly anticipated Korean drama, ​Uncontrollably Fond​ starring Kim Woobin and Bae Suzy, will be available in Malaysia through Viu. ​Uncontrollably Fond​ is a heartbreaking love story of​ ​a couple who meet each other again as a top star and a documentary producer after a frustrating breakup.

  • Love in the Moonlight

Hong Ra-On, played by Kim You-jung disguises herself as a man and counsels men on dating. Due to a love letter she wrote for a client, she then meets Crown Prince Hyomyeong, played by Park Bo-Gum. Hong Ra-On is unaware that he is the Crown Prince and Hyomyeong is unaware that Hong Ra-On is a woman. The Crown Prince becomes interested in Hong Ra- On and when his eunuchs were aware of this, they attempt to get Hong Ra-On to become one of them.
